Light in August, William Faulkner
First UK edition, first printing of one of Faulkner's greatest works and a high point of twentieth century literature. From a relatively small print run of just 2,500 copies and in the original, unrestored dust jacket featuring striking artwork by Goetz. Laid in is the publisher's slip advertising David Garnett's Pocahontas.
London: Chatto & Windus, 1933. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt; pp. (iv), 480. A near fine copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding remains sturdy and square, minimal wear to boards. Internally clean. Jacket shows light general shelfwear and rubbing with a few chips, spine toned. A nice copy.
