Look Charlie, Jean Shepherd. 1958 Program. Shel Silverstein Illustrations.

Look Charlie, Jean Shepherd

Original program for Jean Shepherd’s short-lived off-Broadway revue at New York’s Orpheum Theatre, illustrated throughout by Shel Silverstein. Silverstein’s playful drawings and hand-lettered comic biographies introduce Shepherd and his “Rabble,” including Herb and Rita Gardner, Lois Nettleton, and Silverstein himself. The rear page features the producers and the Red Onion Jazz Band. An appealing early collaboration between two distinctive voices in American humor.
