Naming and Necessity, Saul Kripke. First American Edition.
Naming and Necessity, Saul A. Kripke
First American edition in book form, first printing, of Kripke's landmark work in metaphysics and the philosophy of language, developed from his 1970 Princeton lectures. Its arguments about naming, reference, and necessity reshaped debates over how language connects with the world. Later philosophers of artificial intelligence have drawn explicitly on its account of reference to investigate how machine-learning systems acquire meaningful representations.
